No-one enjoys thinking about the possibility of an unexpected death in the family. Unfortunately, it is a fact of life and the only thing we can do to ease the burden is to provide for such an event.
Are you aware of the added stress involved in the event of such a loss caused by the financial burden of paying for a funeral. Are you also aware that in the event of the death of the breadwinner in a family, the banking accounts of the deceased are usually frozen.
For a relatively small premium, SANFA can offer you the peace of mind in knowing that in the event of such an unforeseen tragedy, you can provide for a funeral. This benefit is paid out within 24 hours of receiving the correct documentation and will be paid in the form of a bank transfer or a cash cheque, whichever the beneficiary prefers.
Rules of the scheme
The standard benefit allows for a cash payment of R 5000.00 or R 10 000.00 in the event of the death of the main member or any of his/her direct dependants. A dependant shall mean the spouse of the main member, either by legal or common law marriage, the children of the main member, either biological or legally adopted. In the case of child cover, all dependent children will enjoy cover up to the age of 21. A full time student will remain covered until age 25. Children who are permanently dependent by reason of mental or physical disability will be covered until death or the member ceasing to be covered provided such child does not receive any form of income whatsoever.
1. This is a group Funeral Scheme and premiums are payable monthly in advance by Bank Stop Order on the Members Account. 2. Cover is limited in the case of children under the age of 14 as per the Insurance Act. 3. Cover ceases with the non-payment of premiums. 4. Premiums are payable until the death of the main member, after which, all benefits cease. There are no built in surrender values. 4. Death as a result of suicide will not be covered for the first 24 (Twenty Four) months.
Each member will be issued with a Membership Certificate, reflecting the names of all lives covered in terms of the policy.
